He says with pride he's a civilised man
Be that way till the day he dies
He never runs and he never hides
From the truth or the reasons why
From the left now
From the right
Coming in from the sun this time
Out of mind keeps him out of sight
Let's imagination run wild
This ain't no life for the faint hearted
Why fit in when you can make a change
He's got to finish what he's already started
Check the mirror while he changes lanes
He stands alone, feeling strong
While the generations fade away
He's been shown by one of his own
That every message has it's use by day
He wonders why
he feels so high
When all he needs is himself around
What went wrong so long ago
To make him feel that his life's rewound
This ain't no life for the faint hearted
Why fit in when you can make a change
He's got to finish what he's already started
Check the mirror while he changes lanes
This ain't no life for the faint hearted
Why fit in when you can make a change
He's got to finish what he's already started
Check the mirror while he changes lanes

Dream
03:41
|

Seems like a long long time
Since she was lovin' me
I wonder if it ever happened at all
Sometimes it makes me feel
Like it just ain't real
Though I got this gaping hole in my heart
Every day she writes her letters
Makes them hard and makes them cruel
She writes some mean old lines
Then tells me that she's mine
It ain't real I know that's true
Seems like a long long time
Since she was lovin' me
I wonder if it ever happened at all
Sometimes it makes me feel
Like it just ain't real
Though I got this gaping hole in my heart
Well it's a dreamers dream in a dreamers mind
She makes no sense shows no sign of letting
Any time soon
It's a private world of pain and tears
Keeps her locked inside her fears
As she dreams away
And she fades to grey
So she lays it down forever
So much more she wants to say
Strikes another blow
It's only me who knows
Why she's made this way
Seems like a long long time
Since she was lovin' me
I wonder if it ever really happened at all
Sometimes it makes me feel
Like it just ain't real
Though I got this gaping hole in my heart

Live Around Midnight
04:37
|
|||
I live around midnight
You don't think that it's the mark
People try to tell me
Ain't nothin' out there in the dark
I don't listen to them
To me it looks pretty sharp
I live around midnight
And my neighbours got their groove
They keepin' up appearances
And they's particularly smooth
It don't really matter anyhow
They got nothin' left to lose
It's all the same when you look at it
It's just a different dream
It's all the same when you try it on
It's never what it seems
Never take what you can't control
Only makes a lie
Only the dark makes us see the light
And leaves us wondering why

Loving You
02:48
|
|||
I don't need to tell my story
No one needs to hear my pain
It's wrapped up in silent glory
Sleeping dry out in the rain
And the reason that I know
That my fire is still aglow
Is that I lay down every night loving you
I lay down every night loving you
Not big on conversation
Never had the words or the time
Some people mock my situation
On their way to fall in line
So I move in different lights
And I don't always do what's right
But I lay down every night loving you
Yes I lay down every night loving
You have the power to make me see what's real
Hour by hour you help me turn that wheel
And all day long it's so
Sometimes I sit and wonder
How it all fits in place
I hear the rain and the thunder
And I see me taking up this space
But the storms they roll on by
And I'm not always by your side
But I lay down every night loving you
Yes I lay down every night loving you...

Spain
04:36
|
|||
If ever I get the time
Think I'll go to Spain
The sangrias so fine they say
Think I should go to Spain
Get to Catalonia on the clear blue coast
Streets of Barcelona my respected hosted
Picasso and Dali over there is Spain
Pour favour me tengo que
I got a date with Spain
Try to find some soul up on Montserrat
Sevilla's nice for a stroll they say
And then a siesta
Drinks at eight will do me
Tapas after nine
If the language threw me
I'll try some sign
It's a whole other world
Over there is Spain
Pour favour me tengo que
I got a date.... a date with Spain
A date with Spain
Goin' over there...

High Priestess
04:32
|
|||
Say nothing my darling
We live in silence
Feel your way in the darkness
And come to me
Touch the hand that wants you
In total obsession
Break your heart into pieces
And deliver them to me
Don't ask I will tell you
What you need to know
Don't speak I will hear you
I feel your eyes looking inside of me
And I want to know
Will you be my High Priestess
And sacrifice some love
Be my High Priestess
Everything starts at nothing
So it goes
Keep an eye on the good thing cause
One never knows
It flys in the darkness
Lays low in the light
It flows like a river
Running out of sight
It's just the way that you look at me
I want to know
Will you be my High Priestess
And sacrifice some love
Be my High Priestess
Be my High Priestess
Sacrifice a little love
Be my High Priestess...

Buy Me A Ticket
03:38
|
|||
'76 I crossed the line
It was December and the water felt fine
And a friend helped me up
To mark the occasion
Killed the past
Spied a future
Smoked out pipes and applied loves suture
To the youthful skin on our drums
That beat like crazy
I spent a long time sitting by the side of that road
Watching the world pass by me
A complete itinerary is so very necessary
When you're changing the road that you're on
I'm gonna buy me a ticket to Los Angeles
I hear they got a Chinese Theatre
Want to spend some time with those famous hands and feet
Go walkin' on the Hollywood Boulevarde
Find me a tattoo parlour
And carve the initials of a person that I've always loved
Right above my heart
Years passed and I wandered
Through the valley of an era I squandered
Think I answered that question wrong
Can I have it over
Too bound by convention
Too young to know of lifes greatest invention
So I walked down the road well travelled
And left it behind me
I keep a sharp weather eye on the vessels going by
Hoping my light don't fade away
But the warning that I'm giving
Is there ain't no point in living
If it's only a lie anyway
I'm gonna buy me a ticket to New York City
I want to see the island in snow
Want to hear their stories repeated blow by blow
Gonna stand below the Brooklyn Bridge
And catch a silhouette of the moment
And sign in the corner of a portrait that I wished was real
That's how I feel
That's how I feel...

My Brother
03:49
|
|||
Thinkin' about my Brother
Thinkin' about things from way back when
Feel like there's a weight to move
Nothing really that I have to prove
Thinkin' about my brother
He was a man who made his way
Doin' it right day by day
Never let a chance go by
To share a smiile and that is why
He was a man who made his way
And when I think about the things he did for me
Back in those simple days and the way
He taught me how to ride a bike
How to play with my toy cars
How to use a tennis racquet for a guitar
He seemed so much older when
I was just a little boy
He never hurt me once in my whole life
Oh oh the choir is singing
Take his hand his soul is winging
There was a simple essence to his life
Love your kin respect your wife
Keep feedin' up the family tree
That's the way he wanted things to be
There was a simple essence to his life
I remember how we laughed until we cried
I love my brother so and don't you know
He showed me how to be a man
How to hold my hear up high
Shake a hand like you mean it
Look 'em right in the eye
He seemed so much older when
I was just a little boy
He never hurt me once in my whole life
No he never hurt me once in my whole life...

The Situation
04:16
|
|||
I felt the rush of time
And I made my first smart move
Walking a real fine line
Knowing I had to prove something to myself
The situation was nagging me
Moving in slow at the start
Selling what should have been free
Things that could come from the heart
When my situation became so clear
My obligation disappeared
Give more of this and less of that
Helps when the brew is rising
Looked bad from where I sat
There was just no compromising myself
There was no success
The melodies failed
It didn't pass my test
No matter how much I wailed
When my situation became so clear
My obligation disappeared
It's fine when the lights come on
Ignoring the gruesome details
Finally realised what was going on
What I got ain't for sale
Put it down to experience
Can't always trust what appears to be good
Hold onto common sense
I'm keeping my head in my hood
When my situation became so clear
My obligation disappeared

Real Life
05:37
|
|||
I remember Walker Avenue Paddington
Old stone fences and wrought iron lined the way
My grandparents lived in number 14
Just down the road was Jackie Dean
Old man Fred was right next door
Seemed like he'd been there forever
I was just skinny kid in shorts and T shirt
Me and my friend Wayne would play all day
We'd climb the tree in Trumper Park
Talk the dreams right up till dark
The sky would go red over White City
And we'd run home for dinner
I would catch the smell of cookin' at the front door
The women of the house would set our meal
I would whisper in my fathers ear
Can I have a sip of beer?
He would smile and turn his head my way
It was a real life
It was a great life
There was plain and simple happiness around
And the trees on Walker Avenue
Would drop their leaves and talk to you
And tell the tales of days gone by
I remember the sandstone doorstep at the local
I would sit outside and drink my lemonade
I could smell the beer and hear the sounds
Of the barmaids as they poured the rounds
The door would open and I'd see inside
To a world that was so grown up
I never felt alone on those hot Sundays
I had my tennis ball to make my day
Dad would put his head outside and wink
You OK boy, you need a drink?
I would bounce my ball and say I'm OK
It was a real life
It was a great life
There was plain and simple happiness around
And the trees on Walker Avenue
Would spread their leaves and shelter you
And tell the tales of days gone by
So many things have changed on Walker Avenue
All the folks have died or moved away
The stone is new and the fences are high
The place is different and I hear it sigh
For a time when neighbours shared a laugh
And life was simple
It was a real life
It was a great life
There was plain and simple happiness around
And the trees on Walker Avenue
Have been replaced with something new
And with them went their tales of days gone by...

It's Not Living
04:35
|
|||
All my life been singing the songs that I love
I think about them everyday
I spend my time between the real and the dream
That's how I make my way
Well I ain't lonely and I'm not sad anymore
I keep some real fine company
I've held the hands of many a brother gone before
Cause we know what it means
And their words have shaped the who I am
Their music helped me understand
They know this simple truth
You know it's not living if I can't play
I wouldn't make it another way
It's not living if I can't sing for you
And when all my songs are sung and done
Pack the gear for the last run home
I'll remember the nights I sang it true
I see the memory laid out there before me
Of a 15 year old boy
Learning guitar in the lamplight of his bedroom
Just happy to make some noise
And the music flowed into his veins
But he never really took the reins
Though he loved it more than anything he knew
You know it's not living if I can't play
I wouldn't make it another way
It's not living if I can't sing for you
And when all my songs are sung and done
Pack the gear for the last run home
I'll remember the nights I played it true
Oh try to hold the moon up in my hands
That's all I try to do
There's a song that hangs in the sacred air
I don't know why and don't know where
The one that keeps me doing what I do
You know it's not living if I can't play
I wouldn't make it another way
It's not living if I can't sing for you
And when all my songs are sung and done
Pack the gear for the last run home
I'll remember the nights I sang it true

I Dig Where You Live
04:30
|
|||
Come to you in my car
It's not so far out to the coast
And the wind in my face
tells me I'm near the place
I love most
It's such a civil right
To keep you in sight
On days like these
I'm turning thrice
And I see that nice Silver Beach
And I picture you both waiting there
The sky in your eyes and the sun in your hair
The steps to the beach are calling
And I swear
I dig where you live
I dig where you live
You seem to forgive
That I keep coming back to the place you call home
The setting sunshine
Helps us to find
The shells we need
The Merle can run
Having so much fun
By the sea
And it's all that we need to feel this way
The time and the place and the words that we say
Where the cliffs meet the ocean it's calling
And I say
I dig where you live
I dig where you live
You seem to forgive
That I keep coming back to the place you call home
From a fleeting notion
To a crazy idea
Set in stone by the ocean
So good that you're here
I dig where you live
I really dig where you live

Life Goes On
03:47
|
|||
Life goes on
Life goes on
No matter who steps off
Life goes on
You're looking good now pretty baby
But one day you'll find
Things are gonna start slippin'
Down that fine line
So get yourself some lovin'
Have a little fun
You never know if you're gonna be
The next one
Life goes on
Life goes on
No matter who steps off
Life goes on
There's a time for needing
And there's a time to give
And any time you're asking
Is the right time to live
Just make sure you're keepin'
You're eyes on what is sure
Cause anytime's the right time
Not to be here anymore
Life goes on
Life goes on
No matter who steps off
Life goes on
Train keeps a rollin'
Rollin' down the track
Train keeps a rollin'
It ain't never comin' back no...
Now you don't get the happy
Till you get some sad
And you won't know the good times
Till you've had some bad
So take a trip on sunshine
Dry up all your rain
You ain't got but one shot
This ain't happening again
Life goes on
Life goes on
No matter who steps off
Life goes on
Life goes on
Life goes on
No matter who steps off
Life goes on
